Seen across the mountains, on the edge of the Empty Quarter sands, Ubar rose for its trade to the richest places of the then known world only to be lost and remain the Atlantis of the Sands. It became known as Omanum Emporium, “The Marketplace of Oman”, on Claudius Ptolemy’s famous map of Arabia Felix.
